In the late 1930's, before the war, George worked in Felixstowe for a friend called Jimmy Mason. During that time he stayed with Jimmy and his family in a house, not far from the promenade. Masons operated along the seafront at Felixstowe, taking pictures of people on holiday. They ran their business from wooden premises called 'The Beach Studio', people could buy cameras and films from them, have their own films processed and buy the photographs taken by George or Jimmy.
